A gentle breeze caressed the lands around the falls; the black waters were... beautiful on this day. While they might have looked an omen on a better day, this was because of how bleak this day was; the skies were a pale gray, the land covered in a light, misty fog. It almost looked... haunted; however, the trained eye would simply know that this was all because it was morning - a foggy morning, at that. The sky was simply clouded over, and the fog probably had a reasonable explination, as well.
A black 'figure' rested itself next to the falls; it's faded orange nose was the only color that seemed to splatter the terrain today in the faint light of the morning. The collar about the figure's neck even seemed grayscale; the white eyes were hidden behind closed eyelids.
Risk gave a gentle yawn, and his ears twitched. Looking about, he let out a small groan; he hated the... dreary days, such as this one. He could tell already that it would probably rain later, and he was depressed. Rain always brought on his depression; and he was predisposed to sadness, anyways.

As if searching for something, a dark shape glided through the vapourous skies of the Falls, scanning the area with her dark rimmed eyes. She had met so many others already, but none like herself. Yes, there had been another Ghost Dog, but he had an aura, a light, not the shadowing soul that she bore. Blackwater Falls had always been her favourite place, perhaps because of the eerie, yet amazing atmousphere, the beautiful yet deadly waters, whatever it was, she did not know. She approached the falls without caution, the fog was so heavy she couldn't have spotted a fly on the end of her long, lantern nose. Eventually, she was close enough to notice another creature, black, flowing, just like herself. With a leap of the heart, she bolted towards it, giving a warm bark in greeting as she approached. "Hey, what's up?"

Risk jumped, and turned his head in the direction of the other ghostlike canine in alarm. He hadn't expected anyone else to approach him; it seemed too dreary a day for anyone save for himself to be out. He shuddered - she seemed to have the same condition as him. His black pelt - or, fog, as he avoided calling it - quivered, as if he were shivering.
"Hallo," he said hesitantly, cautiously. He eyed Down for a moment, his blank eyes seeming to stare blankly at her. He must have decided she was safe to talk to, for he said next, "Fhh... uh, nothing. I didn't expect to see anyone else."

A small, barely audiable laugh echoed from Down's long snout, and she smiled widely again, baring no teeth, but thick black mist. A bird fled from the trees above them, throwing clawed hands out into the grey sjies, and she instanly turned her muzzle in the direction, ready for danger. When conviced there was nothing, she spun back, and smiled sheepishly again. "Why didn't you expect me?" She asked, hoping it wasn't a stupid question, she felt an overwhelming feeling of uncertainty around this brute, no matter how similar the two were.

Risk barely heard her laugh, and took no note in her smile. He didn't find any reasons in this... afterlife to smile about anymore. He still believed he was living, he still knew that he was living; something was just... wrong with him. It was a birth defect, perhaps... yes, that had to be it. A birth defect. He turned his head towards the black waters, and appeared to be staring at them; however, it was unclear with his white, pupilless eyes. He was taking his time responding to Down's question. It wasn't a stupid one, merely one that was difficult to put into words.
"Because it's so... " he trailed off, attempting to think of a word to describe it. Eerie? Gloomy? No, neither of those were good. "Unreal."
There. Risk still felt that he hadn't explained it properly, but it didn't matter. The time for answering had come and past, he'd done his best at the moment. He saw no need to restate his words.

"Unreal..." the whisper of life muttered, a little cofused, but trying to make sense of the matter. It was only during this period of awkward silence, that Down remembered she had overlooked a pretty important matter. "What's your name?" she piped up suddenly, surprising even herself with the volume of her voice. It was so hard for her to make anything of this creature; he was a complete enigma, and she was full of questions, but not sure how to ask. The mist seemed to thicken around them as she floated on the spot, whistling silenly as she waited for an answer; it could hae choked them to death, had they not lost theit lives already. Another question to tantalize her brain - how did he die? Dare she ask...?

Risk would have laughed, but instead he let out a cold grunt. His name was painful to remember. He had gained it from how his attitude had been when he was alive; now, the ebony brute would have given anything to re-live those years and correct his behavior.
'But why 're-live' it?' he thought, his pupiless eyes becoming distant for a terse moment. 'I just have to prove to my boy that I'm good, now. I was hurt, but I lived through it, didn't I?'
"Risk," he said, after recollecting his thoughts. "That's what the humans called me. I don't remember the name I was given as a pup."

Down cocked her head, and smiled a timid, unsure smile. "Risk..." she repeated again, muttering many inaudiable(sp?) things below her breath. "Nice name" She finished, finally; she didn't know what else to say, but thought she should at least comment. How 'bout I take a risk..... she thought, and asked quietly, "Why Risk?" Her voice once again cut through the thick grey blanket like a dagger through a heart; had she had one, she may have noticed, but nothing like that really crossed her mind anymore, not now she was dead. At that point, it came to her that perhaps she should question this brute's behavior; not once had he admitted that he was no longer of the living, and his behaviour hardly signalled that belief either - does he know he's dead?

Risk looked away, in the direction of the cascading falls. For the first time in what seemed decades, a ghost of a smile spread across his thin lips; however, as soon as it had seemed to come, it was gone. His puphood glory had always made him happy, but as always, it ended with depression.
"When I was a puppy, I would do anything," he began, closing his eyes. "Anything I was told to do, I would happily do. I was the runt of the litter, which made it even more suprising. When I was half a year, my human Chad found me in a damp cave and kept me for my... 'spunk', as he told his other two-legged friends. While my siblings hovered in the back of the cave in fear, I came tottering to the big man and nipped him on the thumb with my teeth."
Risk chuckled. He hadn't even hurt Chad, but the man had admired his risk, hence his name. "He took me home that night, cleaned me up, and named me Risk; he said I was the risk-taker of the brood."
Although there was much more to the story, Risk fell silent; he didn't seem to even notice that he was no longer speaking. Besides... he had told the fae what she asked, and saw no need to say anything more.

Down continued to mutter for a few moments, as was her way, before she began to delve into her own memory; 'though of course, on rough shake of her ghostly head told her now was not the time. So, she merely nodded, and replied, "I guess it's a pretty damn apt name then." And silenced herself once more. A whisper of wind wound 'round them once again, giving her the inspiration to speak once more, and she added, "You definately earned that name...I'm afraid to say I would have been with your siblings, cowering at the back." She lowered her head again, and her nose came into contact with the ground, dousing the light reflecting from it so the darkness engulfed them further. "The rest of your past," she started, timidly, "do you remember it?"

As they talked a winged, black, figure materializerd in the mist. AS it beat it's wings the mist cleared and they could see the wolfish Gally-trotter with wings. It walked up to the pair, Her red pupiliss eye and her blue pupiled eye studyed them for a moment. Hello. My name is Nightingale.
